The Stony Brook University Chapter of the Friends of Fire Island National Seashore (FFINS-SBU) was officially established as student organization in the fall of 2012. Stony Brook University has a diverse student body comprised of local and international students. Our members represent a diversity of majors, including psychology, applied math and statistics, sustainability, biology, and marine sciences.
The founders include Helen Tsoi, Wendy Zheng, Holly Thompson, and Cara Lin. Our current board consists of Cara Lin (president), Stacy Zhao (vice president), Joanna Yu (treasurer), and Emily Nocito (secretary). Our Stony Brook University faculty advisers are Dr. Marvin O’Neal, who serves on the FFINS board, and Dr. Malcolm Bowman.
